    Open Art Exhibition

    The Open Art Exhibition is a display of your artwork, from paintings to pottery. The theme for 2021 is... no theme! We wanted to give all artists the chance to let their creativity go wild.

    With the move to digital we wanted to give you more of an opportunity to share your creativity and inspire others by making our 2021 online Open Exhibition free of charge to enter!

    We've also extended our deadline until Friday 19th February so you have plenty of time to select your favourite piece, photograph it and submit your entry to us.

    The exhibition will take place online from Monday 1st - Sunday 7th March 2021 and we will share the link here so you can view all the submissions and vote for your favourite to be the winner of the audience choice.

    Of course we will still have our judging line up, selecting their winner based on artistic quality and appeal. Let your imagination soar without restriction and submit your best work. We're excited to see what will be submitted this year.


    How to enter:

    1. Submit a photograph of your artwork to info@artwaves-festival.co.uk by 19th February with the following information:
      • Artist Name
      • Preferred Contact Information
      • Artwork Title
      • Medium used and size
      • Artwork cost if it is for sale
    2. See your artwork as part of the online gallery that will go live on Monday 1st March 2021 and get voting as the one with the most votes will win the audience choice award.

    Our 2021 judging line up will be released in due course.

    Artworks will be judged on their artistic quality and appeal. Our panel of judges will be looking for:

    • how well does it link to what it represents
    • how well has the idea been executed
    • how well did the piece evoke interest/excitement/emotion/intrigue/reaction.

    Members of the public will be able to vote for their favourite piece through our online voting platform. Details of how to access this will be available online with the launch of the exhibition. The results will be announced at the end of the festival.

    There will be two cash prizes in our free online Open Exhibition.

    • Judges' Overall Choice, £200
    • Audience Choice, £100

    If someone contacts us wishing to purchase your piece we will put them in contact with yourself. The festival will not charge any commission for this.

    No, we encourage artists from anywhere to enter into the exhibition.

    Just send us an email or give us a call and we will change those on your application. Contact details can be found at the bottom of this page.

    • Entries to the Open Art Exhibition can be made online or in person following the directions above.
    • Entry is free, with a maximum of one entry per artist.
    • The Open Art Exhibition is open for entries to Friday 19 February 2021.
    • There will be two cash prizes chosen by judges and public vote. Details of all prizes can be found above.
    • The Open Art Exhibition 2021 is open to all.
    • Any works selected for the Open Exhibition and subsequently sold during the exhibition, will not be charged commission. ArtWaves will facilitate contact between the potential buyer and seller following interest but nothing further.
    • All work submitted is original and owned by you. Copies of other artist's will not be accepted.
    • Copyright of artwork and images of artwork remains with the artist, but the organisers of ArtWaves reserve the right to publish the images online or in print for the purpose of marketing of the festival and future associated events.
    • Artists selected for the exhibition and artists who are presented with a prize may be asked to be involved with press and marketing for promotion of the festival and future associated events. This may include photographs and quotes. Artists will be asked to give consent before these are used.
    • Copyright of artwork and images of artwork remains with the artist, but the organisers of ArtWaves reserve the right to publish the images online or in print for the purpose of marketing of the festival and future associated events.
